    I have AS and just had a MRI for AES The written report says disk bulging artifacts, swelling etc. and say it's not a big deal......... Nit I have periodic total 100% paralisis with both my legs and arms. yes 100%, swelling on parts of my body like the pads of my feet and hands including facial swelling aling with other parts of my body to where I look like the elephant man (not exagerating!). Current MRI shows Cauda Equina Syndrome very clearly with the spinal cord almost completely severed at L3, L4 and L5. I'musing a cane on a very good day but mostly a walker and wheel chair. doctors say there is no problem except with ankyloosing spondylitis. CES is only accurately diagnosed 11% of the time. I guess I'll just die slowly. Eyrope has their stuff together on CES but here in the US they don't really know how to diagnose this immune dissorder. See you all in the next life. CHAO! Douglas Gillard, DC, Professor of Clinical Science knows his stuff. I wish you could help.

      Thanks, I'm glad it was helpful. Remember, MRI has a High false positive rate for things that typically cause low back pain (meaning, people without back pain can have these findings). You have to match the MRI findings, with a thorough history of injury and the examination findings to achieve a proper diagnosis.

    • @douglasgillarddcprofessoro5285
      @douglasgillarddcprofessoro5285 12 дней назад

      That's a really good combination (less Paul + PRS guitar). Remember, these tests only evaluate muscle strength. Some disc herniations do not damage the motor nerve but instead only damage the sensory nerve which is the one that has the pain fiber within it. So, you can still have very disabling sciatica yet have normal motor examination.
